Boca Raton, FL (May 5, 2008) - The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) recently held the inaugural Gold Coast FCA
Celebrity Golf and Tennis tournament on Thursday, April 24th and Friday, April 25th at the beautiful Ocean Breeze Golf and Country Club in Boca Raton. The gala and silent
auction was on Thursday. with the golf scramble and tennis pro-am action on Friday. In total $53,370.00 was raised at this first time event.
“We created this event as an outlet to create awareness for the FCA sports ministry outreach and to raise funds to support the area coaches and athletes,
summer sports camp scholarships and activities associated with the local Gold Coast FCA chapter headquartered on the campus of FAU in Boca Raton,” said Gold Coast FCA Area
Director, Carl Foster. “I was thrilled by the turn-out of athletes and local FCA supporters making this a successful first-time event!”
The tournament was hosted by legendary collegiate football coach, FAU’s Howard Schnellenberger. Additional celebrities who attended included: Jan Stephenson, former LPGA
Champion; Bucky Dent, former NY Yankee; Larry Hoskins, former MLBer, John Offerdahl, former Miami Dolphin Pro Bowler, Rod Payne, NFL SuperBowl Champion for the Baltimore
